Silent Peace Walks
Benedictines for Peace believes that inner peace is the foundation for peace in the world. One of the ways that we promote a nonviolent society is by offering monthly Silent Peace Walks.
Silent Peace Walks last for about 30 minutes, and are generally held in a central location, easily accessible to everyone. Throughout 2022, they will take place in Perry Square.
We gather at 7 p.m. and recite a short peace poem, then walk in silence, single file, slowly and mindfully, eventually returning back to where we started and closing with the peace poem. As we walk, we strive to develop inner peace, and hold all those who are suffering in our hearts and minds.
These events are free and open to the public. Piero Falci originated Silent Peace Walks in Florida in 2006, and many other organizations host them around the country.
